It’s that time of year when most of us don’t know if we are coming or going, busy finishing end of year work, preparing for Christmas and of course all the parties starting now too!
The life of a craftsperson is all that plus the shows and pop ups and all the lovely present selling!
Usually today I would be on the the road to the RDS for the National Craft and Design Fair, for the first time in years I won’t be in the RDS and I have decided to stay home with my boys! I will miss the buzz of seeing all my customers in the flesh and all my National Craft Fair buddies but hot chocolate and the toy show with the kids will make me feel a little better about that 😉
However you will find me in Dublin 9th – 11th December at Dublin’s Flea Christmas Market in the Point Village – This will be a fab craft show with lots of amazing Irish makers
Also for those of you near Dundalk, Orla Barry and I have opened our fantastic pop up Silver Linings. It’s our fourth year opening our shop in Dundalk and this year we are bigger and brighter and we are open everyday right until Christmas eve.
We have products by over 30 makers and Irish made gifts to fulfil all the gift buying needs. You will find Silver Linings at 18a Williamsons Mall off the Ramparts Road near the Marshes Shopping Centre.
I am still making customised pieces but you only have until Friday 2nd December to get them in time for Christmas!
You can add your own words to Love Song tiles and Rainbow tiles in small, medium and large, a selection of bowls, dishes and vases can also be customised and of course the last few days to get Christmas Stars for your Little Stars!
Sarah McKenna has been developing her unique handmade Irish pottery at Bridge Street Studios since 1999. Before returning to Dundalk she studied Ceramics at Duncan of Jordonstone College of Art & Design, the University of Dundee, Scotland where she gained a Bachelor of Ceramic Design.
Sarah’s work has always been engaged in the process and the early studio work was concerned with smoke firing and raku firing sculptural vessel forms. In 2006 Sarah started producing a range of quirky customisable ceramics giftware which is the beginning of what you can purchase today. Read more here.
